The vast vinyl tarp covering the upper deck of Oakland’s McAfee Coliseum — hiding what was once a sea of empty seats during Oakland A’s baseball games — is largely the handiwork of business owner Don Lawson. He designed the thing, contracted with a fabricator to have it manufactured and then installed it.
